Yes. The rooms have gas geysers and the lodge itself has a large industrial sized electricity generation plant offering power that is always on. In case of power outages, the generator needs to first be switched on before the backup power kicks in.
April to September:
The weather in Kruger park is very fair during the winter months, offering moderate temperatures of up to 30 degrees celcius (warm enough to swim). The mornings can be quite cold on game drives in winter (maybe around 12 degrees celcius minimum) and the heat can increase later in the morning. We therefore advise to wear wool hats, gloves, a jean or chino, light winter jacket and running shoes. This way you can take off your jacket when it gets warmer. Warm blankets are provided on the morning game drives.
October to March:
In summer it can be extremely hot. Our hottest months start from January to March (temperatures can soar up to 49 degrees celcius on selected days). On cloudy or rainy days, you may feel a bit chilly and a light jersey will be sufficient. The raining season starts around mid to end November and can continue well into April some years. We provide rain jackets on the vehicle in such cases, however open-sided safari vehicles have roofs for Kruger park.
It is always a good time, as different animals thrive during different times of the year. You need to consider your schedule, the weather and availability at the lodge. The dry season can start in April and continue to mid November before it rains. Around October/November it can be very dry in the park where predators thrive more, breeding season starts after the first rains when it gets very green.
You have to bring along your own photographic equipment and binoculars (none are available for rent). We advise a physical camera with some possible good zoom to get better photos. Phone cameras can work well for animals right next to the vehicle. Many times the animals are close, however not always. Many times you have to use a binoculars.
Many guests book over a year in advance, spaces can already get limited on some dates over 12 months in advance.
The lodge and Kruger park is completely safe. Guests pay a lot to come and staff are long standing. The roads and routes are subject to your views about South Africa. We love our country and feel it is safe. Any country has its own problems.
Yes, however due to the remote location it isn't fast. Only available in guest areas, limited signal to some rooms further from the router.
